Blue Nettle Fair Trade & Organic
(Sri Lanka/Oolong) From the famed Organic/Fair Trade Idulgashinna Tea Garden
come these visually captivating spears of cassis, cinnamon, gold, and silver
tips.
This hand crafted tea is laboriously rolled and twisted into spears. Each finished
cluster is slightly more than 1 inch in length. These partially fermented (oolong)
leaves produce a delicate, pale liquor that is exceptionally sweet and clean,
with champagne undertones. The tea can be steeped multiple times, each revealing
new complexities. A very special tea from a premier tea garden. Not only wonderful
tea, but organic and Fair Trade as well.
The Idulgashinna Tea Garden is located near Haldummulla in the Uva region of
central southern Sri Lanka, and has the distinction of being the first tea garden
in the world to become organically certified; much of their premium quality
tea production is also biodynamically grown. In addition to a strong regard
for the environment, the plantation has its own schools, bank and medical centers.
Newly constructed housing is spacious and residents are given the rare opportunity
to own their own land. This estate produces some of the finest organic green
and black teas, highly sought after by connoisseurs. They are an example of
excellent tea and high regard for social and environmental concerns.
