Thumbnail Filmstrip of Gyokuro Jade Dew Images
(China, Green) Straight, deep green leaves like pine needles. While grown in China this looks and cups like the far more expensive Japanese cultivations. Gyokuro differs from the standard Sencha in being grown under the shade rather than the full sun to reduce photosynthesis. The name "gyokuro" translates as "jewel dew" (or "jade dew", referring to the pale green color of the infusion). All hand prepared.
Water Temperature: 170° F
Leaf to Water Ratio: 1 tablespoon per 8 ounces
Steep Time: 1 minutes 25 seconds (1st infusion), 30 seconds (2nd infusion)
